Climbing formwork is an effective formwork system for reinforced concrete structures of the shear wall system and tube system in engineering construction. It is often used in the construction of high-rise buildings and high-volume structures, following is the introduction to the basic structure and assembly procedure of climbing formwork.

The structure of climbing formworkcan be divided into three parts: lifting frame(or portal frame), support frame, and their combined structure: combined steel formwork

1. Lifting frame

The lifting frame is hung on the support frame with formwork, enclosure, and working platform.

2. Support frame

The support frame is a simple frame, which is inserted in the lifting frame. The lower end has a fastening device that can be fixed with the hardened concrete wall under the formwork. The upper end protrudes from the top of the lifting frame. Two strands of the support frame are available and made of channel steel, the top of the frame is equipped with horizontal bars to hang lifting facilities, and the lower ends of the two strands are equipped with fastening devices, which can be fixed with the wall.

3. Combined steel formwork

The height of the climbing formwork can be set at 150 cm, and the combined steel formwork is staggered to form the required length, with combined rigidity, which can play the role of a plate beam.

The spacing of the lifting frame can be set at 150 cm, and the combined steel formwork can be used the vertical edge and lead screw are fixed on the two strands of the lifting frame, which can simplify the enclosure on both sides of the formwork.

For each pouring, the through-wall bolts shall be embedded according to the set spacing, which can be used as the fixed support frame or as the split bolts to resist the lateral pressure.

For the cylindrical wall structure with a circular section, the 150cm high formwork is vertically configured with combined steel formwork, and two circles are set horizontally to form radians, which are fixed on the two strands of the lifting frame by lead screws. The inner and outer formworks form a circle, which is divided into several parts by the circle, to facilitate demolding in different areas.


The assembly procedure of climbing formwork


The assembly procedure of climbing formwork is as follows:

1. The two strands of each support frame are fixed on the wall by through-wall bolts through the fastening device.

2. Lift the lifting frame, insert and match it with the support frame, and temporarily fix it with the support frame at the formwork height.

3. Install the horizontal bar on the support frame, and then install lifting facilities between the support frame and the lifting frame to make the lifting frame hang on the support frame.

4. Install the work support on the lifting frame so that the adjacent lifting frame has a gangway.

5. After the position of each lifting frame is aligned, the inner and outer formworks are installed on its two strands. The lead screw can adjust the formwork inclination and demolding. The lower opening of the formwork is connected with the poured concrete wall.

6. Install operation platform, scaffold, and lifting transportation facilities.

7. Install power and precision control system.
