Climbing formwork

Climbing formwork (abbreviation: climbing formwork, also known as hopping formwork abroad) is a formwork process suitable for the construction of cast-in-place reinforced concrete vertical or inclined structures, such as walls, bridges, towers, etc. It is an effective formwork system for reinforced concrete structures of shear wall systems and cylinder systems in engineering construction. It is often used in the construction of high-rise buildings and high-volume structures, and has been widely promoted and applied in countries all over the world.

Climbing formwork is a formwork technology that combines the technology and characteristics of large formwork and sliding formwork, and has the common advantages of large formwork and sliding formwork. Especially suitable for super high-rise building construction.

Like the sliding formwork, it is attached to the vertical structure of the building during the structural construction stage, and rises layer by layer with the construction of the structure, so that the formwork does not occupy the construction site and does not need other vertical transportation equipment. In addition, it is equipped with operating scaffolding, which has reliable safety enclosure during construction, so it does not need to set up external scaffolding, and is especially suitable for building multi-storey or high-rise buildings on relatively narrow sites.

Like the large formwork, it is installed layer by layer and block by block, so its verticality and flatness are easy to adjust and control, which can avoid the accumulation of construction errors. There will be no cracking of the wall. However, the preparation amount of climbing formwork is larger than that of large formwork, because its construction technology cannot implement segmented flow construction, so the turnover rate of formwork is low.

Since the formwork can climb by itself, there is no need for hoisting and transporting machinery, which reduces the lifting workload of the lifting and transporting machinery in the construction of high-rise buildings, and can prevent large formwork from stopping work due to strong winds. Since scaffolding is suspended on the self-climbing formwork, the external scaffolding in the construction stage of the structure is also omitted, because it can reduce the number of hoisting machinery and speed up the construction speed and has better economic benefits. There are two types of climbing formwork: climbing formwork with climbing frame and climbing formwork without climbing frame. The climbing formwork with climbing frame is composed of three parts: climbing formwork, climbing frame and climbing equipment.

Climbing formwork is a construction technology developed to avoid the disadvantages of sliding formwork. The advantages of sliding formwork should be retained as much as possible. Therefore, the optimal formwork structure can be obtained by converting sliding formwork into climbing formwork, which is conducive to the development of climbing formwork.

Development of climbing formwork

Europe began to develop climbing templates in the 1970s. China is in the process of promoting the use of sliding formwork. In view of the fact that the formwork slides against the concrete surface, the frictional resistance is very large, and the concrete that has been poured in the formwork will be cracked or lifted. The method of lifting the formwork after pulling it away from the concrete surface, or adopting the method of sliding the frame to invert the mold, so as to reduce the frictional resistance during lifting. In view of the fact that the lifting force point of the sliding formwork is on the upper end of the support rod (or climbing rod), various measures need to be taken to maintain stability. It is easier and more stable to land the lifting force point on the hardened wall below the formwork . In this way, there are many construction sites in China under different engineering and equipment conditions, and different forms of climbing formwork structures have appeared. Using winches (inverted chains) or lead screws as lifting facilities has achieved successful experience. It is also used in high-rise building construction. It can save formwork materials and speed up the construction progress.
